Shyijé

This tradition, which takes its name « Pacification of Suffering » from a line in the Heart Sutra describing the mantra of Prajñāpāramitā as « the mantra that brings about the pacification of suffering, » is based on teachings brought to Tibet by the Indian siddha Padampa Sangyé during his five visits to Tibet. While its empowerments and texts survive in the Damngak Dzö collection of teachings, Shijé does not constitute an independent school but rather has been sustained within the frameworks of other traditions. The Shijé teachings served as a primary inspiration for Machik Labdrön‘s conception of the Chö lineage.
